Pa’a Taotao Tano’ (Way of Life of the People of the Land) is a non-profit cultural organization, incorporated in November 2001. Pa’a Taotao Tano’s mission is to preserve, perpetuate, and promote the cultural traditions of the indigenous people of Guam and the Marianas. Our goal is to develop a forum in which our Chamorro cultural practitioners can perform and exhibit and share the traditions of our people.
Pa’a Taotao Tano’s membership now represents over a thousand passionate cultural practitioners, advocates, and artisans. The fifteen Guma from across the island of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the United States mainland to include two in Japan are the driving force and inspiration for the organization’s continuity. Most of the Pa’a Taotao Tano’ Guma have been in existence for over ten years and all are actively involved in the community in various activities preserving, promoting and preserving the Chamorro culture of the indigenous people.
Pa’a Taotao Tano‘ is committed to seek out funding via local and federal grants to expand and broaden our mission. We are most fortunate to receive assistance such as local annual government appropriations, generous corporate and community support to include collaborative partnerships with various organizations. The outpour of from all facets of the community is a testament to the strength, commitment and vision of the Taotao Tano’ that has flourished for over four thousand five hundred years in the Mariana Islands.
