Department of Public Health and Social Services Administration- Child Protective Services (CPS) is responsible for receiving and investigating reports of child abuse and neglect. Child Protective Services ensures, through reasonable effort, that children are safe in their own homes. Crisis intervention to prevent further abuse and neglect, removal and placement, initiation of court intervention, and case management services.
