The Guma Ginefli’e Dementia Day Care provides elderly day care services for those who are frail or diagnosed with dementia. The program is funded by the Division of Senior Citizens, Department of Public Health & Social Services. Guma Ginefli’e means House of Caring in Chamorro.

The Guma Ginefli’e Dementia Day Care is a respite program in a non-institutional homelike environment that offers structured activities for adults who are unable to function at home without supportive services and who do not need 24-hour care. They are persons who would normally be home bound but have no one at home during the day to look after them.

Who we serve
Dementia care services are available to adults, age sixty (60) years and older, who suffer loss of memory, problems with reasoning and judgement, disorientation, difficulty in learning, loss of language skills, and a decline in the ability to perform routine tasks.

Services provided
Free quality care for up to ten (10) hours daily with the overall needs of the clients (social, recreational, therapeutic   and spiritual) provided.

A well-balanced lunch, which meets at least 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance for adults as established by the Food and Nutrition Board.

Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are served daily. Snacks can be purchased for a nominal fee or provided.

Transportation
The Guma Ginefli’e staff will coordinate with the Case Management Program to forward the necessary referral to arrange for transportation services from home to the day care, and return back to home.
